What to Wear for Family Photos

I’ve been there - running around, tearing through closets, and wondering if I would be able to make it to Von Maur before we needed to be at family photos. The difficult question of ‘what to wear’ to family sessions plagues so many of us!

I recently photographed a family that absolutely rocked their wardrobe for their extended family session! This session was a Christmas present from the kids to their parents, which is an amazing gift!

My best advice when deciding what to wear for family photos is to choose a color scheme, such as jewel tones, pastels, or neutrals, and have everyone wear clothing predominately in the color scheme. This family chose neutrals, and added in textures.

The chose white, cream, khaki, browns, & grey, and dressed in it from head to toe. They used Pinterest as a jumping off point for inspiration, which is one of my favorite websites!

The color palate they chose ensured that they all looked cohesive as a group, and still complete when divided into smaller groups or individuals.
